Hybridity: In the Mix |Asian Pacific Culture Night 2009|

Just came back from doing nearly four hours of shooting Asian Pacific Culture Night. Whoahowoo..... regardless of my fatigue, it was a fantastic event featuring a medley of great acts from The Imaginary Zebra clothing company, Mga Kapatid, and one of my personal faves, rapper/comedian, Claude Quebec. I loved how the planners decided to have an "evolution" take place on stage, with folk/traditional dancing perform in the beginning, and ending with modern dancing and musical performances. It created a movement through the APIA identity, with tradiation being the beginning of the APIA expression in the various arts. The big headliner (which the APCW committee paid thousands for) was Fanny Pack of America's Best Dance Crew fame. Amazing performers, but I wish they performed longer...but then again, another 10 minutes would've probably cost another few thousands of dollars....gotta love suddenly famous people. Bless 'em.
